Serina Thomson is the sole Director of Thomson Family Lawyers. Serina was also formerly one of the founding Directors of a successful family law firm currently operating in Perth. Serina studied at Murdoch University, graduating in 2007 with a Bachelor of Laws, after also completing a Bachelor of Psychology in 2004.
Whilst studying, Serina worked both as a volunteer in a law firm, as well as in a Community Legal Centre, gaining experience in family law matters. In the final year of her degree, Serina took a strong interest in family law, working as a Law Clerk in a boutique family law firm where she furthered her experience in the field of Family Law.
After graduating from Murdoch University, Serina worked as an Associate to the Honourable Justice Martin at the Family Court of Western Australia. During this time, Serina undertook legal research and developed a solid understanding of the relevant family law legislation and the practice and procedure of family law in Western Australia, spending time in Court daily to assist the Honourable Justice Martin in special appointments, interim hearings and trials.
In addition to a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Psychology, Serina holds a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice and is admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Western Australia. In June 2010, Serina was admitted into the Register of Practitioners kept at the Registry of the High Court of Australia, entitling her to practice in any Federal Court in Australia.
Serina is currently completing her Masters of Applied Law in Family Law.
Serina practices exclusively in all areas of Family Law, including matters involving divorce, property settlement, de facto relationships, spousal maintenance, parenting/care arrangements, relocation, child support and paternity determination matters. Serina also has experience in Family Law appeal cases. Serina also practices in child protection matters as well as violence restraining order matters.
Veenela studied at Edith Cowan University, graduating in 2013 with a Bachelor of Laws. She completed a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice at the College of Law and was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Western Australia in August 2015. Veenela was entered in the High Court Register of Practitioners in January 2017, thus entitling her to practice in any Federal Court in Australia.
Veenela has assisted clients across various aspects of family law issues arising from the breakdown of a relationship, including both child related and financial matters. She developed a keen interest in Family Law whilst working at a national law firm where she had exposure to the challenges of family law practice and developed a particular passion for family law. Veenela joined the team at Thomson Family Lawyers in August 2017, where she has continued to develop her practice in family law.
Veenela is a compassionate lawyer who strives to ensure that her clients receive the best possible attention, support and legal advice they require to meet their family law needs.
She aims to build good rapport and develop long-term professional relationships with her clients, whilst offering them the highest level of service and advice, to assist them in the resolution and finalisation of their family law matters.
